The Rainy Mountain...Mood
I think Momaday set the mood during this essay by using very vivid descriptive dialogue. He describes the scenery as such a tranquil place, kinda makes you wanna be there. Although the essay is about going to see his deceased grandmother, the mood was not set as sad or depressed. Instead he replaced those feelings with good memories that gave the essay a peaceful mood. At the end of the essay he discusses the funeral and actually going to see his grandmothers grave. When he is talking about the funeral to me the mood was kinda sad. He reminisces about the moment and its like he starts hyperventilating. By the last paragraph, he pulls together and ends the story like he started...peaceful and tranquil.
